Mom To Boys
For the life of me, I cannot understand what is so funny about something as ridiculous and sick as trying to kill a cow by squeezing all the milk out of her body and in animated, matrix-style, a man combats with a cow twice his size, punching at the cow’s milk ducts! I do not understand! Someone please enlighten me because I am drastically outnumbered by a man and 2 boys!
It’s like going back to school all over again. The boys should be sharing disgusting fart jokes with each other and the girls would all be, you know, snarling at them and glaring them with pure disgust in their eyes. The jokes about poo, pee and fart….they’re lost on the feminine gender.
And yet, they are so damn hilarious to boys! And I have 2…. +1.
But I take heart in the fact that I will suffer only during their baby years, toddler years and pre-adolescent years. The father will suffer during the teenage and young-adult years. So, in other words, I am going through this turmoil first and then later on, I’m off! So, I guess, I’ll imagine this….
I am trying to open a durian (a very ‘fragrant’ tropical fruit) for 10, 12….maybe 15 years. From then on, my husband gets the headache and I get to go wherever I want without worry!
Yeah, right!
As a parent, we’ll have to resign ourselves to the fact that we will be in constant worry. The difference is that when they are babies, we worry that they stop breathing in the middle of the night. When they’re teenagers, we worry that they won’t come home by the middle of the night!
In the end, the job of a parent is to worry.
So, my take is that….what does it matter whether you have boys or girls for children, you worry all the same. Just different sets of worries, that’s all.
